App Tour

This page maps out the Genie UI so you know where everything lives.

The headerโ€‹

The yellow header bar is the same on every page. From left to right:

ElementWhat it does
DHL Logo (top-left)Takes you back to the landing page (/)
๐Ÿ”” Notification bell (top-right)Opens a dropdown with User Requests (admin-only) and My Requests. See My Requests and Pending Requests
Your name (top-right)Opens a menu with three shortcuts: Apps, Chat, New Request
Avatar (top-right circle)Opens a menu with Logout โ€” see First Login โ†’ Signing out
Finding admin functions

If you don't see a User Requests item in the bell dropdown, that is because you are not an admin or owner of any knowledge base. This is by design โ€” admin shortcuts only appear for the people who need them.

The landing pageโ€‹

/ โ€” the page you first see after signing in. It has:

  • A welcome headline and tagline
  • Four shortcut cards (visual / inspirational โ€” only Create Intelligence Application and Launch Collaboration currently navigate anywhere)
  • Two documentation links at the bottom (User Guide, Technical Documentation) which open static guides in a new browser tab

The landing page does not show your knowledge base list. To see your KBs, click your name โ†’ Apps.

The main pagesโ€‹

You can also reach most of these pages through the name menu in the top-right.

The left sidebar (in Chat)โ€‹

When you open the Chat page, a dark left sidebar appears with a yellow GENIE header and three areas:

  1. New Chat button โ€” start a fresh conversation in the currently selected knowledge base
  2. Application History link โ€” opens the full chat history page (only shown when you have access to at least one application)
  3. Recent chats โ€” your most recent chat sessions across all knowledge bases you have access to, mixed together (most recent first). The list is not grouped or filtered by the KB currently open in the chat pane โ€” opening a chat from another KB simply switches the chat pane to that KB.

Each chat row has a small dropdown with a single Delete action. There is no rename option in the UI today. When the list is empty you see "No chat history".

On screens narrower than 768 pixels the sidebar collapses into an overlay and can be opened from a hamburger button โ€” useful on tablets in warehouse settings.

The right panel (the Chat Analysis Sheet)โ€‹

When you click a citation or one of the small icons under an AI answer, a slide-out panel appears on the right. It has three tabs:

  • Thought Process โ€” internal reasoning Genie used to compose the answer
  • Supporting Content โ€” the passages that were retrieved from your documents
  • Citation โ€” the list of source files cited in the answer

See Chat โ†’ Sources for the full citation workflow.

Theming and languageโ€‹

Genie picks up the dark/light theme of your operating system automatically. There is currently no user-facing language switcher โ€” the interface is in English. AI answers are returned in the language of your question (so if you ask in French, the answer comes back in French, even though the buttons and labels remain in English).

What is NOT in the UIโ€‹

To keep expectations straight, the following items that you might expect from similar tools do not exist in Genie today:

  • No "Stop generating" button while an answer is streaming
  • No thumbs-up / thumbs-down feedback widget on answers
  • No language picker in the header
  • No theme toggle button
  • No global search across all KBs
  • No batch document upload in the user interface
  • No KB-level settings beyond name, description, users, and files

See Support โ†’ Known Limitations for the full list.
